Principal Message
2023-2024 School Year
Dear Syracuse Elementary Families,
I am very grateful to be the principal of Syracuse Elementary and to be part of this excellent community, as I share the school community’s dedication and tradition of caring for students every day to provide a meaningful learning environment.
This year marks my 19th year in education. I taught in the classroom for nine years, and have spent the remainder of my career as an administrator with experience at all three levels of public education: elementary, junior high, and high school. My professional experience has shown me that the work we do in our schools matters. Our schools have a meaningful impact on the lives of our students, and I am excited to continue to participate in this work with you.
While I am an educator, I am also a husband and father of two. My wife, Jamie, is also an educator and she teaches 5th grade. I count myself fortunate to have been able to send my own children to Davis School District schools. As my son and daughter are now in high school, I know the value of a quality elementary education experience. I understand the important role that our school plays in our community, and in your daily lives. I take that responsibility seriously.
I believe firmly that all students can learn, and I know that cooperation between home and school is vital to the success of your child. I recognize there are a variety of unique challenges our students may face, and I am devoted to meeting the needs of our students. I am thankful for my opportunity to serve as Syracuse Elementary School's principal.
Thank you,
Doug Hammerschmidt
